“I’ve been privileged to work with Alison as my executive coach for the past year. Alison’s coaching has helped me make the transition into thinking more deeply about my role, my vision, and creating sustainable actions that have translated into exceeding my key business metrics and goals in 2019. Throughout the duration of our partnership, Alison inspired and provoked my thought process, helping me to expand my traditional way of thinking and the assumptions I had that were getting in my way of achieving peak performance.Leadership is a privilege and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly. As a Human Resources Director for a Fortune 100 organization, I’d strongly encourage high potential leaders and executives to pursue coaching with Alison to accelerate development, enhance one’s leadership effectiveness, and helping empower teams to achieve optimal results.”
“Alison has been instrumental in helping me to navigate the dynamics of starting a new position and the interpersonal relationships within the workplace. Since she has a phenomenal background in leadership, therefore, it was a natural decision to want to reach out to her for professional coaching. She has been a great support and I have seen a difference in the way that I handle certain situations with more introspection and thoughtfulness. Knowing that Alison has a tremendous amount of business experience and acumen, I felt very confident in her capabilities. I highly recommend her and am appreciative of our time working together. ”
“Working with Alison has been an eye-opening experience. Through what felt as simple conversations, Alison always helped me make that necessary stop to organize thoughts, objectives and actions strengthening and preparing me for my regional leadership role. For me, as a young talent, her corporate experience and leadership style adds a level of understanding, always with the right questions to make you think and see different perspectives, but most of all to turn thoughts into actions with a clear objective. Before I knew it, I was already on the next step of my career...”
“When I first met with Alison, I had lots of ideas about new directions for my professional work, but was never following through. I was losing confidence fast and feeling paralyzed and burned out. Meeting with Alison helped me step back, reflect, and understand what was getting in the way. After a few sessions, I was able to face the overwhelm and fears that were holding me back and start breaking down the task of making a major change into some manageable steps. Alison has helped me notice when I am reaching the edge of my comfort zone, take a pause, look at the worries, allow myself to imagine a new perspective, and nudge myself forward. I am now well into my new professional journey and feeling excited about the ways I can use my skills to make a difference and have a satisfying and enriching career.”
“Alison’s warm, skillful coaching helped me grow by leaps and bounds over the last ten months. She listens deeply and asks questions to support you in seeing patterns and opportunities that had been invisible. I credit her with a huge transformation in my presence, confidence and effectiveness at work that now has translated into a promotion to the VP level I have been aspiring to. I highly recommend her services for anyone seeking to knock down barriers to being their best selves!”
“It was great to have the opportunity to work with Alison! Since our first meeting, she was very professional, clear about the scope, objectives, and expectations! During our coaching sessions, she guided me to having a clear understanding of the root cause of my problems or challenges. This was done by asking me questions and by answering them it helped me also to come to concrete actions. I really like the methodology she used, was simple to follow and convincing. I came to the conclusion that a lot of times we have the solution of our problems and what we need is the right guidance to find the answers and start acting on them. Alison helped me organize my ideas, all in a very casual, friendly setting. It was really delightful!”
“It was a pleasure working with Alison. Through her coaching, I was able to reflect and strategize on my interactions at work. She created a space where I could arrive at my own conclusions to support my professional growth. Alison’s vast experience in leadership was invaluable for me to navigate situations as a growing leader. Thanks to Alison, I take with me teachings that will last for life – especially in approaching situations and projects.”
“I have had the chance to work with Alison over the past 12 months. As the CEO of a fast-growing start-up, having the chance to speak with her on a regular basis about some of the issues the company faces, has been invaluable. She takes the time to listen and then ask pointed questions that lead to insightful reflections. Often, it is how you look at a problem that allows you to solve it. Alison does a good job of challenging how you look at things. She does not give you the solution, rather she helps you reach it on your own, which is much more impactful. Working with her has been a great experience.”
“I turned to Alison in the middle of a true career crisis. I had to make some big decisions about my career and future that I was ill-equipped to make and very confused about. Alison led me down a path of self-discovery and reflection that revealed the answer to me organically. She did not make recommendations, rather she helped me formulate the questions that I needed to ask myself and gave me the space to answer them authentically. Without her, I very well would have made the wrong move and what I learned from working with her will help me with all my big decisions going forward.”
“A natural-born skeptic, I came to Alison Joslyn with modest hopes: what could someone who knows little about me beyond the woefully incomplete snapshot of my resume possibly accomplish in a 45-minute interview coaching blitz? Happily, my session with her turned out to be a conversion experience. She accomplished something nearly miraculous in her allotted time with me: she made me believe. More often than I care to recall, I’ve been undone in high-pressure interviews by a sense of fraudulence and a tendency to sell myself short. Or perhaps the culprit is a failure to grasp that my strengths as a candidate for high-level positions lie in what I mistake for weaknesses. Alison did what the most gimlet-eyed diagnosticians and therapists do — she turned me into glass, saw through the protective masks of self-effacement I wear and gave me the means to overcome those ingrained habits of underselling myself, in part by disabusing me of the notion that an interview is an act of salesmanship. To put a finer point on it, she gave me the language to convey what needs to be conveyed in a situation where confident self-presentation is essential without veering into inauthenticity and artifice. I don’t know quite how she did it. But I can say that her warm, gracious manner put me utterly at ease and made me feel as though I were speaking to a confidante who was determined to help me succeed and capable of seeing the worthiness in me more clearly than I could. What was especially powerful was conducting a mock interview. She asked a question, I answered. When asked for advice on a better way of framing what I’d just said, she wove the key points I’d just made about myself into a tauter, stronger, more strategically-minded rendering completely off the cuff. It was an astonishing display of editorial mastery, made all the more impressive by the fact that it was recognizably my experience she was refining on the spot into a clearer, cleaner, less distorted version of itself. She wasn’t embellishing, she wasn’t inventing, simply paring away and reshaping. Listening to her perform this feat of transmutation over and over, I felt released from deadweight, as though she were chiseling away bits of stone to free the pleasing form locked within the shapeless mass of marble. She gently, diplomatically alerted me to the mistakes I was making in my tactical thinking. She showed me how to steer a safe course through tricky questions and read what kind of information the interviewer was really trying to elicit in asking them. She armed me with elegant turns of phrase to preempt concerns and side-step landmines. She called attention to my habit of taking a long-running start before getting to the heart of an issue and helped me cut to the chase. She shined a light on how my tone could stray into an apologetic or defensive register when the situation called for conviction and calm. In each instance, she provided an example of how it could be done better for me to learn from. And she did all this in less time than it takes me to reach a human being when I call my health insurance company. In sum, I came into our session a ball of self-doubting nerves and left with a sense of self-assurance born of knowing that I now had the tools to make the most persuasive possible case for the value I bring as a leader. When you’re faced with a life-threatening ailment, you go to the best specialist in town. Conversely, when your years of hard work and self-development are rewarded with a potentially life-changing opportunity that will vault your career forward if you can only do yourself justice, you seek out the most skilled and conscientious coach available. You go to Alison.”
